A Friend Bearing Gifts of Memories

Had a pleasant, unexpected visit from a friend I shared the stage with twenty-five years ago––and she was bearing gifts.

Mel Woods, a beautiful and talented dancer, singer, and actress, and I had performed together in several Kiwanis Kapers (Bradford Kiwanis club annual charitable fundraising variety shows.) They were among my favorite shows. I knew they had been video-taped but have been unsuccessful locating a copy. My collection is now complete.

Yes, Mel’s gift was three DVD’s of the 1996,’97, and ’98 shows.

I so enjoyed reliving the moments watching them last night. Great memories. Thank you Mel!

I have to tell you right up front. I’m a story teller. After graduation from the Coast Guard Academy in 1957, my twenty-eight years of active duty have given me a lot of fodder. I finally heeded my daughter’s pleas, “Dad, you have got to write those stories down,” and published my memoirs in 1975. Caught up in the writing experience, I moved on to publish a novel in 2019 and I'm continuing to write. It's my new number 1 hobby.
